How can they stoop so low!

I've always thought that this government were bullies, I'v always thought that they chose their targets strategically so that the targets couldn't respond, but after the difficulties they've recently been in, I didn't think they would stoop that low again! I was wrong, of course. Let me explain: Mike O'brian is the government minister for energy. relatively unimportant, I agree, and compared with the big players in the government he is basically a nobody. Nevertheless he is appointed by the prime minister and is a member of his administration. Last week, this minister on behalf of the government wrote the following in the Muslim Weekly: 'What will Michael Howard do for British Muslims?' he said. 'Will
his foreign policy aim to help Palestine? Will he promote
legislation to protect you from religious hatred and
discrimination? Will he give you the choice of sending your
children to a faith school? Will he stand up for the right of
Muslim women to wear the hijab? Will he really fight for Turkey,
a Muslim country, to join the EU? The last thing we want is to
vote in anger and repent at leisure as Michael Howard, with a big
smile on his face, walks through the door of Number 10.' Now, why are these comments so ill-chosen? answer, because Michael Howard is Jewish! mike O'Brion goes on to attack Oliver Letwin, the shadow-chancellor and another Jew, in similar terms describing him as a twenty-first century Fagin (Referring to the notorious Jewish pickpocket in Oliver Twist), and Dr Evan Harris, a Liberal Democrat MP, and another Jew. No other MPs are attacked in this article by name. Now, Mr O'brion says that he was merely attacking Michael Howard as leader of the Conservative party, and not as a Jew. Well if that's the case, Mr O'Brion, then you should have done your bloody research properly, shouldn't you? The Conservatives have more Muslim prospective parliamentary candidates than either of the other two main parties, and we also have Sikhs, jews, christians and Atheists. So even if you want to attack the Conservatives, Mr O'Brion, why choose this subject when there is no evidence to support your argument? Secondly, if you only want to attack the Conservatives, why include Dr evan Harris? Above all, why are all three MPs you name Jewish? Don't talk nonsense! The Labour spin machine is running out of steam, and here is another classic example of a government minister putting his foot in it. another item, then, to add to the charge sheet that includes: MP barbara Roch referring to the 'filthy Kossovan beggars on the tube'; that includes Margaret Hodge, the minister for children, describing a witness in an inquiry into child abuse as 'seriously disturbed'; that includes a Labour parliamentary candidate at the last election declaring that he would get elected because he was white and his prospective constituents were all racists; that includes the minisrty of defence describing Dr David Kelly as a 'Walter Mitty fantacist; shortly before his suicide during the affair over the Iraq dossier. Now, I'm not naive enough to believe that Conservatives don't say things they shouldn't, because it's clear that some do. However, the difference is that we apologise when we cause offence. This government is so caught up in narcissistic love and arrogance for and about itself that it refuses to apologise for the minister's ill-chosen words in this instance, just as it has in the majority of the other cases I mentioned. So, I ask you, is it really fit to continue in office?

And if it is, then why doesn't it dispense with ministers who clearly are not fit to stay in office? Don't forget, after all, that this is the government that were quite happy to sling mud at the Conservatives for supposedly playing the race card.

Oh boy, the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews, (well at least the first two) both getting out of hand fanatic, I thought relegion was not supposed to be able to polarize western societies so much, the right of society is, in fact, exactly the right to educate and raise people by the same standards and promote communication and understanding amongst its members, also promoting tolerance and respect. This is doing the opposite, I feel we're getting back to the dark middle ages of relegious extremism, mark you, this comes from the same countries that invaded Iraq and use relegious extremism as excuse for intervening in international affairs and conflicts in the middle east and relegious terrorism is used to circumvent any laws of personal protection or privacy that existed and made our societies what they are today. Sad and worrying indeed, time to colonize the moon. ;)
cheers

This goes beyond religion, though, surely. The Jews are a race, and it is Mr O'Brion's argument that because Michael Howard is a Jew he will try and be party to some sort of Jewish cabal that will denegrate everyone else's interests. A government ought not to make statements of that kind, just as it ought not to denounce other sections of society (See barbara Roch and Margaret Hodge above).

Fear not, Dobin, the vultures are out for Mr O'brion MP. The commission for racial equality, which I have to say is normally about as useful as a handbrake on a canoe, is going to take action against this fool. The news didd mention this article a couple of weeks ago, and it was in most of the papers. You might also have noticed that the poster with Michael Howard and Oliver Letwin's heads imposed on images of pigs is another example of Labour allowing the foot to play the role of the head. I want this government out too, and Michael Howard in!

And today, another poster portraying Michael Howard as fagin! Ridiculous I tell you, and shameless spineless opportunism trying to secure the Muslim vote! And yet who is it who has more ethnic minority, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh candidates than any other party? It's the Conservatives! Labour have more women candidates than us it is true, and I regret to say that this is something we haven't yet got quite right, but apart from that, they have nothing! And this is the same government that branded the Tories as racists four years ago? How the world swings in roundabouts eh?
